OpenFn and Palladium Partner to Strengthen Digital Public Infrastructure

We're excited to share that OpenFn has partnered with Palladium to accelerate digital transformation across development sectors.
This collaboration brings together Palladium's extensive experience implementing large-scale digital health solutions with OpenFn's technical expertise in data exchange and workflow automation. Together, we're addressing one of the most persistent challenges in digital transformation: connecting systems that don't “speak” to each other.

Why This Partnership Matters
Effective digital public infrastructure (DPI) depends on secure, reliable data exchange across platforms. When health systems, supply chains, civil registration databases, and social service platforms can communicate effectively, governments can coordinate services, respond to emergencies, and deliver better outcomes for communities.
"Through my work in software development and delivery, I have noticed a nearly universal challenge," explains Derek Treatman, Senior Technical Advisor at OpenFn. "Too often, critical data sits in silos, making it difficult for governments and partners to coordinate care, report outcomes, or respond to emergencies. Our goal is to break down these barriers and enable seamless data exchange across systems."
Real-World Impact
This partnership is already hard at work developing an integrated, multi-tenant EMR product and delivering Data For Implementation (Data.FI), a PEPFAR-funded global project led by Palladium to strengthen health data systems. OpenFn is accelerating interoperability implementations for Data.FI projects by automating data exchange between health systems, including EMRs, DHIS2, lab systems, and other national platforms. This will happen in several African countries, including Burundi, Côte d'Ivoire, Eswatini and Ethiopia - and more coming soon!
Through this work, Palladium manages core platform configuration while OpenFn ensures secure, reliable data exchange. This enables clinicians, administrators, and policymakers to access real-time, trustworthy information for faster diagnoses, better planning, and more responsive public health services.
This collaboration focuses on ensuring governments can manage their own systems, building local capacity, and creating long-term sustainability. By supporting governments to manage and scale their own digital systems, we're helping ensure that technology investments continue delivering public value well beyond initial implementation.
Building on OpenFn's Collaborative Approach
This partnership represents OpenFn's ongoing commitment to working with organizations across the development sector to strengthen Digital Public Infrastructure. As an open-source Digital Public Good, OpenFn serves as critical infrastructure for data exchange and interoperability, enabling governments and their partners to build connected, resilient systems.
